Whereas the Secretary of State is of the opinion, in accordance with section 1(1)(a) of the Food and Environment Protection Act 1985(a), that there has been or may have been an escape of substances of such descriptions and in such quantities and such circumstances as are likely to create a hazard to human health through human consumption of food;

And whereas the Secretary of State is of the opinion, in accordance with section 1(1)(b) of the said Act, that in consequence of the said escape of substances food which is or may be in the future in the area described in article 3 of the following order, or which is derived or may be in the future derived from anything in that area, is, or may be, or may become, unsuitable for human consumption;

Now, therefore, the Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by the said section 1(1) and 24(3) of the said Act, and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following order:—

Title and commencement

1. This order may be cited as the Food Protection (Emergency Prohibitions) (Wales) Amendment Order 1986 and shall come into operation on 22nd August 1986.

Amendment of the principal order

2. The Food Protection (Emergency Prohibitions) (Wales) Order 1986(b) is revoked to the extent that it describes an area outside the area described in this article and accordingly for the Schedule to that order there shall be substituted the following Schedule—

(a) 1985 c. 48.

(b) S.I. 1986/1411.

Article 3

"SCHEDULE

THE DESIGNATED AREA

WALES

The area comprising those parts of the counties of Gwynedd, Clwyd and Powys which lie within the following boundary:—

From the Castle at Conwy generally westwards along the A55(T) road to its junction with the road known as Mount Pleasant; generally south-westwards along Mount Pleasant, St. Agnes Road and Hendre Road through Hendre to Groesffordd; generally south-westwards along the unmarked road from Groesfford to the junction with the unmarked road at OS map ref SH 761752; generally south-eastwards along that unmarked road to the junction with the unmarked road at OS map ref SH 767746, generally southwards along the unmarked road to the junction with the unmarked road at OS map ref SH 768732; generally south-westwards along the unmarked road to the junction with the unmarked road west of Roewen at OS map ref...
