The Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food and the Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by section 1(1) of the Food and Environment Protection Act 1985(a), and of all other powers enabling them in that behalf, hereby make the following order:—

Title and commencement

1. This order may be cited as the Food Protection (Emergency Prohibitions) (No. 5) Revocation Order 1986 and shall come into operation on 14th August 1986.

Revocation

2. The Food Protection (Emergency Prohibitions) (No. 5) Order 1986(b), the Food Protection (Emergency Prohibitions) (No. 5) Amendment Order 1986(c) and the Food Protection (Emergency Prohibitions) (No. 5) Amendment No. 2 Order 1986(d) are hereby revoked.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This Note is not part of the Order.)

This order revokes the Food Protection (Emergency Prohibitions) (No. 5) Order 1986 as amended which designated an area in Wales and in Cumbria affected by the escape of radioactive substances from a nuclear reactor situated at Chernobyl in the USSR and contained emergency prohibitions restricting various activities in order to prevent human consumption of food which has been or which may have been rendered unsuitable for that purpose in consequence of that escape.
