UK public-sector bodies have teamed up with the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) to assess their carbon footprints and adopt a common approach to providing key climate-change information from their supply chains. New partners include the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs; the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO); the Office of Government Commerce; Gloucestershire County Council; Essex County Council; the London Borough of Islington; and Leeds City Council.

Hilary Benn, secretary of state for the environment, welcomed the move. "In fighting climate change, we must look beyond the emissions from our own operations and look into the products and services we use and the suppliers we work with," he said.
