Two years on from Sir Nicholas Stern's review of the economics of climate change, almost 90 per cent of senior managers in the private sector believe that business has a key role to play in managing the effects of climate change. But more than hall admit that their companies do not see it as a strategic priority, according to a survey of 900 international finance and sustainability professionals by CIMA and the Prince's Accounting for Sustainability Project (A4S).

A fifth of respondents say that climate change is not even on their organisations' agendas. Nearly half report that their firms either have scaled down their green initiatives or plan to do so as a result of the downturn...
