Welcome to this special edition of the journal. In November 2018, the International
Policing and Security Conference, hosted by Charles Sturt University, was held in
Sydney, Australia. A wide range of topics emanating from key issues facing
policing, security and judiciary professionals were presented and discussed. This
special edition contains papers developed from presentations at the conference
and additional non-conference papers, all of which offer insight into research
themes currently being progressed globally in the policing and security fields.
As policing and security agencies across the globe continue to build capacity and resilience to
win the war on crime, sharing knowledge on topics ranging from ethical leadership for law
enforcement agencies, challenges facing police educators and the use of machine learning in
counter terrorism strategies to online fraud investigative practice and analyzing crime statistics
and contributes to the collective knowledge and future strategy developments.
It has been a privilege to undertake the role of Guest Editor; thank you the team at Emerald.
I look forward to reading your contributions to the journal in the future.
