Scientists found the pachyderms address each other with name-like calls - a rare ability among non-human animals

The team then called African elephants by their "names" - and the animals answered back.

Researchers from Colorado State University in the US, along with conservation groups Save The Elephants and Elephant Voices, used AI to work out the names and played recordings back to them to see how they reacted. And they didn't just copy the sounds like some other animals would.
