Housebreaker sent to prison

Currie, 31, was jailed for 20 months at Hamilton Sheriff Court last week.

He admitted stealing £19 after breaking into a flat inWatson Street, Motherwell, on February 1 last year.

Currie also admitted nicking two nailguns from a van in the town's Mason Gardens on April 10.

Jennifer Cunningham, prosecuting, said the break-in happened about 9.20pm when the householder was out.

She told the court:"The accused forced entry by smashing a glass panel and opening the front door.

"He left via the living room window, but was observed by neighbours as he dropped to the ground in front of their window.

"Currie was also identified from CCTV footage."
