A TALE of two former Manchester United FA Cup winners went the way of a very relieved Mark Robins

Wayne Rooney's Derby threw everything at Coventry, including five substitutes and even keeper Ryan Allsop, but to no avail.

Defender Dom Hyam was the only scorer, just before half-time with a header from Todd Kane's cross.

It ended a miserable run for the Sky Blues, who had not won in six games.

Coventry boss Robins said: "Ultimately we did enough to see out the game. They have really talented players.

"People look at their league position and think, 'They can't be very good'. They have got some outstanding players.

"They cause problems. This was a really important game to try and get through unscathed. We've had illness, injury, all sorts that the game throws at you.

"It has been really tough the last few weeks."

The home side made use of the Wasps' dressing room in order to spread out and socially distance.

Robins added: "We are grateful to Wasps. We've brought in purifying systems and done everything we can to mitigate. We are a small group and we have needed everyone.

I'd also like to thank the fans for coming - and hopefully we can give them a sexy tie next time.

Coventry started sluggishly and needed some luck in the opening minutes with home keeper Ben Wilson pulling off an amazing save to deny Tom Lawrence.

It must have felt strange for the Rams in a competition where they were actually on a level playing field for a change.
