– as Boris Johnson’s discovered. Paula Keaveney examines the art
of the political resignation and finds some striking similarities –
and divergences.

ministerial resignation. His rst departure
from a Johnson Cabinet – as Chancellor in
early 2020 in opposition to then advisor
Dominic Cummings’ control over Number
11 – had limited impact beyond the
Westminster village. His second would bring
down a Prime Minister.
