"I worked for Transport for London until 2005. As soon as I heard that London's Olympic bid was successful, I knew I wanted to be involved.

"I was one of the first people permanently recruited to the Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA) - my employee number is five. The ODA is responsible for building the Olympic venues and transport infrastructure supporting the games. I am the principal finance and commercial manager for transport. The total Olympic budget is [pounds sterling]9.3bn. Transport accounts for [pounds sterling]900m of this. Approximately half of the transport budget is being spent on capital infrastructure improvements - extending the Docklands Light Railway, for example. The other half is focused on running the transport operation during the games. Our capital infrastructure work is nearing completion. We're now heavily involved in the operational planning for games time. This involves day-by-day, 15 minute by 15 minute pedestrian and road traffic...
