Inspired by the positive attitudes of youngsters

So many young people see the benefit of doing it. There are moments where we have a chance to celebrate

Some young people will do all of the award stages, some will do part of it.

My sister did the gold award and she had a really challenging but positive experience.

I started my bronze and never finished it but then I went off to be involved in sport.

On Monday 6,000 young people and 6,000 guests came to London to receive their award from the Earl of Wessex.

It was wonderful to meet so many proud parents who all shared their stories about some of their challenges that they had faced through the pandemic - it was quite emotive.

Many of the young people were now in the second year of university or working and it might have been three years ago that they finished.

I met one young person who actually finished about seven years ago, but it took them a while to fill in all the paperwork, which, to be fair, is possibly not the hardest part to do, but we have to remember that young people have lots of things to deal with in their lives. It has made for a really positive week for me because I met so many positive young people who were looking forward to their future.

It made me feel that I could go out and change the world.
