The head of the Irish central bank has suggested that commercial banks exiting the nation could lead to the 'rightsizing' of the retail-banking market.

Central bank governor, Gabriel Makhlouf, said that even though two banks will soon leave Ireland, there is no evidence that their exit would affect credit availability for businesses in the nation.
