Juries Act, 1954

(2 & 3 Eliz. 2) CHAPTER 41

An Act to amend the provisions of the Juries Act, 1949, as to payments in respect of jury service.

Be it enacted by the Queen's most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—

S-1 Payments to jurors for loss of earnings, etc.

1 Payments to jurors for loss of earnings, etc.

(1) In the case of each of the following sections of the Juries Act, 1949 of the section (which, as respects compensation for loss of earnings and certain expenses, imposes specific limits on the amount payable in respect of any one day) shall cease to have effect.

(2) Any increase attributable to this Act in the sums payable out of moneys provided by Parliament under the said Act of 1949, or under Part I of the Local Government Act, 1948 , shall be defrayed out of moneys provided by Parliament.

S-2 Short title, citation and extent.

2 Short title, citation and extent.

(1) This Act may be cited as the Juries Act, 1954 ; and the Juries Acts, 1825 to 1949, and this Act in so far as it relates to England and Wales, may be cited together as the Juries Acts, 1825 to 1954.

(2) This Act shall not extend to Northern Ireland.
