Kevin Phillips has praised Dara O'Shea's level of performance for West Bromwich Albion after the defender suffered a serious injury on international duty.

The Irishman went over on his ankle in a nasty collision for the ball with Portugal's Diogo Jota, which lead to a fractured ankle and ligament damage.

O'Shea will be out of action for the remainder of 2021 at least, with the injury expected to keep him out for around four to six months if not longer.

It is a major blow to manager Valerian Ismael and West Brom 's hopes of finishing on top of the Championship this season, as the 22-year-old has been an integral member of the first-team since the 2019/20 campaign.

Ex-Baggies striker Phillips has intimated that the side will indeed miss the defender's versatility greatly, calling him one of the club's "most consistent players" in a recent interview.
