An
Act
for
conferring further powers on the Lancashire
A.D.1901.
-
and Yorkshire Railway Company
with
relatiou
to
their
own undertaking and upon that Company and the
London snd North Western Railway Company with
relation
to
the Preston and Wyre Railway and the
Great Northern Railway Company with relation
to
lands at Wakefield and
for
other purposes.

HEBRAS
it
is
expedient that the Lancashire and Yorkshire
w
,Railway Company (who are herein-after referred to as
"
the
Company
")
should be authorised-
To
make and maintain the railway
and
works herein-after
To
widen and improve certain
portions
of
their railwey
;
To
deal with certain roads and footpaths connected with their
undertaking
;
To
purchase acquire and hold additional lands for the general
purposes
of
their undertaking
;
and
To
raise capital for the burposes
of
this Act and
also
to
raise
additional capital for the improvement and enlargement of their
railways stations and works and the constriiction of new
stations and sidings and for the providing
of
additional rolling
stock and other the general purposes of their undertaking
:
And whereas it
is
expedient that the powers
of
the Company
for
the completion of the railway
in
Manchester the diversion of
Corporation Street and Cheetham Hill Road and the tramways laid
therein in Manchester and for the completion of the deviation
of
main line at Brighouae respectively authorised
by
the Lancashire

And whereas
it
is
expedient that the powers
of
the Company
for
the completion of the Railway

authorised by the Lancashire
and Yorkshire Railway Ach 1891 (which powers were extended by
the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway (various Powers) Act 1899)
should be further extended
:
And whereas the undertaking of the Preston and Wyre Railway
Harbour and Dock Company
is
vested in the Company and the
London and North Western Railway Company (in this Act called
the two companies
”)
in the proportion of two-third
parts
thereof
in the Company and one-third part thereof in the London and
North Western Railway Company (in this Act called
tie North
Western Company”) and the said undertsking is managed by
a
committee appointed by the two companies and called and in this
Act referred
to
as “the committee of management” and
it
is
expedient
that
the two companies should be empowered
to
exercise
the powers in this Act mentioned in connexion with the said
undertaking herein-after referred to
as
‘‘
the Preston and Wyre
undertaking
:
And whereas by the Lancashire and Yorkshire and
London
and
North Western Railway Companies Act 1396 the two companies
were authorised
to
widen
a
portion of their Blackpool and Lytham
Railway in the parish and borough
of
Blackpool and in connexion
therewitlh to make
a
diversion
of
Victor Street and the two
companies have consilructed
a
porhion
of
the said diversion and
it
is expedient that the two companies be authorised
to
make
a
further widening of their said railway
in
the said parish and
borough and in connexiou therewith to abandon the construction
of
the remaining portion of the said diversion
:
And wheyeas
it

expedient that the time prescribed
for
the sale
of la8nds acquired by the Company and
by
the Company jointly with
other companies under the powers of various Acts and not yet
applied
to
the purposes
of
the undertakings
in
respect of which they
were
so
acquired shouid be extended
:
And whereas
it
is
expedient that the other provisions herein-after
contained should be macle
:
And whereas it is expedient that the powers
of
the two companies
for
the completion of t’he new railway from Blackpool to Eirkham
authorised
by
the said Lancashire and Yorkshire and London and
North IlTestern Railway Companies Act 1896 should be extended
as
provided by this Act
:
And whereas the objects of this Act canrot be attained without
the authority of Parliament
:

And whereas-plans and sections showing t'he lines and levels

the lands

powers of this Act and

book of reference to such plans containing
the names of the owners and lessees
or
reputed owners and lessees
and of the occupiers
of
the said lands

regards the railway
the widenings and other works lands and property in Lancashire
been deposited with the clerk
of
the peace
for
the county palatine
of
Lancaster and as regards the widenings and other works lands and
property in the west riding
of
the county
of
York
with the clerk
of
the peace for the said west riding and those plans sections an6
books of reference are
in
this Act referred to as the deposited plans

books
of
reference respectively
:
