The Lord Chancellor, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 1 and 20 of the Legal Aid Act 1974(a), hereby makes the following Regulations:—

1.—(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Legal Advice and Assistance (Financial Conditions) Regulations 1985 and shall come into operation on 25th November 1985.

(2) In these Regulations, "the Act" means the Legal Aid Act 1974.

2. For the weekly sum of £108 specified in section 1(1)(a) of the Act, there shall be substituted the weekly sum of £114.

3. For the capital sum of £765 specified in section 1(1) of the Act, there shall be substituted the sum of £800.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This Note is not part of the Regulations.)

These Regulations increase the disposable income limit for the availability of legal advice and assistance under Part 1 of the Legal Aid Act 1974 from £108 to £114 a week and increase the disposable capital income limit from £765 to £800.
