I congratulate CIMA on beating me by two years j to its 90th birthday, l am grateful for its influence on my post-war career.

I passed the exams by correspondence course in the early fifties while I was an office manager in a small Norfolk manufacturing company and I used them to obtain a chief cost accountant's job in India (two years as a RAF navigator in India probably helped).

On returning to England in 1961 I spent three years as a management consultant before forming a polythene extrusion company in Louth. I sold my shares in 1972, retired and became a violin fellow of Trinity College, London. Six years later I started another manufacturing company and sold it in 1989. I still receive a pension from another firm, of which I was chairman.
