An Act to confirm certain Provisional Orders under
"The Local Government Act, 1858," relating to
the Districts of Malvern,
Cowpcn,
Bristol,
Shef-
field,
Margate, Bognor, and Otley; and for other
Purposes relative to certain Districts under the
said Act. [13th July 1868.]

HEREAS the Secretary of State for the Homo Depart-
ment, being One of Her Majesty's Principal Secretaries
of State, has, under the Provisions of the Local Govern-
ment Act, 1858, duly made certain Provisional Orders which arc
contained in the Schedule to this Act annexed; and it is provided
by the aforesaid Local Government Act that no such Orders shall
be of any Validity whatever until they shall have been confirmed
by Parliament, and it is expedient that the said Orders should be
so confirmed, and other Provisions made with respect to certain
Districts already under the Local Government Act aforesaid:
Be it therefore enacted by the Queen's most Excellent Majesty,
by and with the Advice and Consent of the Lords Spiritual and
Temporal, and Commons, in this present Parliament assembled,
and by the Authority of the same, as follows:

The Provisional Orders contained in the Schedule hereunto
annexed shall from and after the passing of this Act be absolute,
and be as binding and of like Force and Effect as if the Provisions
of the same had been, expressly enacted in this Act.
2.
The Mayor, Aldermen, and Burgesses of the City of Bristol
being, by the Council of the said City, the Local Board of Health
in and for the District of the said City and County of Bristol, shall
not exercise the Powers of compulsory Purchase or taking of Lands
under the Provisions of the Bristol Provisional Order (in the
Schedule to this Act annexed), for the Purposes set forth and
described in such Provisional Order, after the Expiration of Five
Years from the Date of the passing of this Act.

Ii&^Vict. Government Act, 1858, and shall be as if this Act and the said

Order in pursuance of Section 77 of the Local
Government Act, 1858, for repealing Parts of and amending the
Malvern Improvement Act, 1851, and for other Purposes.
2.
COWPEX.—Provisional
Order for altering the Boundaries of the District of
Cowpen, in the County of Northumberland, under the Provisions of
the Local Government Act, 1858.
3.
BRISTOL.—Provisional
Order putting in force the Lands Clauses Consoli-
dation Act, 1845, within the District of the Bristol Local Board of
Health, for the Purchase of Lands by the said Board for Street
Improvements.
4. SHEFFIELD.—Provisional
Order putting in force the Lands Clauses Con-
solidation Act, 1845, within the Sheffield Local Board District, for
the Purchase and taking of Lands by the said Board otherwise than
by Agreement for Purposes of Street Improvements.
5. MARGATE.—Provisional
Order putting in force the Lands Clauses Con-
solidation Act, 1845, within the Borough of Margate, for the Purchase
of Lands by the said Local Board of the aforesaid Borough for Street
Improvements.
6.
BOGXOR.—Provisional
Order for extending the Borrowing Powers of the
Bognor Local Board.
7.
OTLEY.—Provisional
Order putting in force the Lands Clauses Consolida-
tion Act, 1845, within the Otley Local Board District (Yorkshire),
for the Purchase and taking of Lands by the said Board otherwise
than by Agreement.

WHEREAS
the Local Board of Malvern, acting as the Commissioners for
putting into execution the Malvern Improvement Act, 1851, and the Malvern
Improvement Amendment Act, 1858, duly adopted for that part of the Parish
of Great Malvern in the County of Worcester which is within the Emits .set
forth and described in the Malvern Improvement Act,
1851,
the Local Govern-
ment Act, 1858, except sections 54 and 55 and 50 thereof
And whereas the said Commissioners, acting as the Local Board for the
said Malvern District, have, in pursuance of section 77 of the Local Govern-
ment Act, 1858, presented to one of Her Majesty's Principal Secretaries of
State a Petition praying for the alteration, amendment, and partial repeal of
a certain Act of Parliament in force within their District (entitled the Malvern
Improvement Act, 1851), having relation to the purposes of the said Local
Government
