Kenya's celebrated mobile money payment system, M-Pesa, has announced a landmark deal with Western Union that will allow users to send money all over the world.
Kenya is home to over 23m active M-Pesa users, who will now be able to send money directly to Western Union's 500,000 global accounts. Safaricom, which runs M-Pesa, also announced that payments will be facilitated to global bank accounts within the coming weeks.
