'WHEREAS an Act was passed in the Session of Parliament holden in the Sixth and Seventh Years of the Reignof His late Majesty KingWilliam the Fourth, Chapter One hundred and sixteen, whereby, amongst other Things, Provision is made relating to the Application for and Recovery of Compensation for Losses or Damages sustained by Persons by means of certain mischievous, wanton, or malicious Acts and Outrages in the said Act in that Behalf mentioned: And whereas by an Act of the Seventhand Eighth Years of the Reign of Her present Majesty, Chapter One hundred and six, like Provision is made in like Cases in relation to the County ofDublin : And whereas by an Act of the Fourth and Fifth Years of the Reign of Her present Majesty, Chapter Ten, like Provision is made in certain Cases therein mentioned in relation to the County of the City ofDublin : And whereas by an Act of the Eleventh and Twelfth Years of Her present Majesty, Chapter Sixty-nine, Provisionis made relating to the Application for and Recovery of Compensation for Losses and Damages sustained by Persons by means of certain other riotous and unlawful Proceedings in the said Act mentioned: And whereas it is expedient to extend the Benefit of the said recited Provisions of the said first-recited Act to certain Cases of Losses or Damages sustained by Persons by means of certain other unlawful, riotous, or tumultuous Acts herein-after mentioned:' Be it therefore enacted by the Queen's most Excellent Majesty, by and with the Advice and Consent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the Authority of the same, That—

S-I Damages sustained by means of Offences enumerated in this Act to be recovered by like Proceedings as Damages are recovered under 6 & 7 W. 4. c. 116. and 7 & 8 Vict. c. 106.
