St Mary's was the setting as City looked to make it 13 straight wins in the English top-flight.

Chelsea became the latest casualty in the formidable run, in what was a deserved win, as Kevin de Bruyne's strike 20 minutes from time secured all three points as they inflicted damage to the hopes of one of their title rivals.

A win for the Blues would create a sizeable gap ahead of nearest challengers Liverpool, who play Crystal Palace on Sunday, adding onus to Jurgen Klopp's side -who go into the trip to Selhurst Park buoyed after booking their place in the Carabao Cup final in midweek.

Raheem Sterling, Phil Foden and Jack Grealish all lead the line last time out and kept their place.

The back four saw one change from the win over Thomas Tuchel's side as Ruben Dias returned, replacing John Stones as Kyle Walker, Aymeric Laporte and Joao Cancelo continued.

Meanwhile, in midfield there was no changes in the middle as Silva, Rodri and De Bruyne maintained their place.
