The Marriage Fees (Scotland) Regulations 1985

In exercise of the powers conferred upon me by sections 3(1), 19(2), 25 and 26 of the Marriage (Scotland) Act 1977 (a) and of all other powers enabling me in that behalf, and with the approval of the Secretary of State, I hereby make the following regulations:—

Citation and commencement

1. These regulations may be cited as the Marriage Fees (Scotland) Regulations 1985 and shall come into operation on 1st April 1986.

Fees

2.—(1) The fee payable under section 3(1) of the Marriage (Scotland) Act 1977 by each person submitting a marriage notice shall be £4.

(2) The fee payable to an authorised registrar under section 19(2) of the Marriage (Scotland) Act 1977 before solemnisation of a civil marriage shall be £12.

3. The Marriage Fees (Scotland) Regulations 1982 (b) and the Marriage Fees (Scotland) Amendment Regulations 1983 (c) are hereby revoked.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This Note is not part of the Regulations.)

These regulations set out, with effect from 1st April 1986, the fees payable under sections 3(1) and 19(2) of the Marriage (Scotland) Act 1977 (fees for the preliminaries to marriage and for the solemnisation of a civil marriage respectively). The fee under section 3(1) is increased from £3.25 to £4 and the fee under section 19(2) is increased from £10 to £12, The Marriage Fees (Scotland) Regulations 1982 and the Marriage Fees (Scotland) Amendment Regulations 1983 are revoked.
