Mr Brocklehurst chose the first prize heifer from Father and Son team, Chris & Andrew Johnson of H Clark & Sons, Paxton Dene, as his Overall Champion. The 590kg Limousin x heifer, bought out of the Hexham Store Ring from Messrs Bell, Woodhall last year, sold for 249.5ppkg to R Pearson Wholesale Butchers, Bradford.

First prize steer came from Paxton Dene also and again bred by Messrs Bell, Woodhall. The British Blue x steer sold to 255.5ppkg to Mr Brocklehurst.

Top grossing steer also came from Paxton Dene with a Limousin x steer selling to an unbelievable £1767.50. Cast Cows & OTM Another fantastic trade for cows was seen at Hexham this week with more numbers and returning customers, all rewarded with extreme rates seen.

Mr R Carr brought a good Limousin x cow to Hexham which realised £1517.34, 181ppkg.

Highest price P/kg cow this week was 1st prize in the presale show from renowned producer, Mr JW Smith Jackson, High Town with a British Blue x cow selling to 185.5ppkg OTM Cattle sold to 191.5ppkg for a British Blue x heifer from Mr GS Eggleston, Thornham Hill. The same home sold steers to 187.5ppkg or £1462.50.

Dairy cows from Mr AW Dixon, West Heddon Farm sold to a high of 137.5ppkg for an Ayrshire x Cow.

The trade for Cast cows and OTM Cattle here at Hexham rivals any other centre in the North of England and more cattle can easily be sold to Vendors advantage.

ACKLINGTON March 16 and 18 North East Livestock Sales held its fortnightly store cattle sale. Fast becoming a popular place to do business for both buyers and sellers. Once again, a fantastic show of cattle forward totalling 142 head with again new faces around the ring, looking to purchase the cattle on offer.

An exceptional trade was seen, with types and ages of cattle presented.
