Suffolk ewes sold to £180 from Mrs C Baker, Cragshield.

Mules sold to £148 for a pair from Messrs J G Clarkson & Partners, Elrington Hall.

Hoggs sold to £138 from Messrs A J & H Gordon & Son, Old Deanham.

The stronger end of store lambs, sold very well however dull coated lambs harder to cash. Although trade was up £5.32 on the year for poorer sorts.

Annual consignments all commenting on increased averages on the year. Topping the

trade were lambs at £129 firstly for Suffolks from Mrs C Barker, Craigshield and then also for a pen of 21 Texel cross lambs from Mr J Ridley, Wittonshields.

Store lamb sales will now take place every Friday at the conclusion of the cast ewes.

265.5p Thockrington Farm, 249.5p Beacon Rigg Cast Cows & OTM Another cracking entry of cast cattle with more fresh vendors taking advantage of the competitive ring at hexham - trade unlike other centres maintained the previous weeks high rates with better cows especially, easily cashed.

Three cows surpassed the £2000 mark this week. Leading the charge was a big pure Limousin from Messrs J E Henderson & Son, Burntongues which realized £2035.75. A Simmental cow from Mr R M Johnston, High Fotherley Farm sold to £2010.65.

The highest ppk cow came from Messrs J Lee & Son, Agars Hill with a Limousin cross selling to 247.5ppk.
