Meacher backs CIMA on environmental reporting.

Current listing requirements for companies encourage short-termism and require an overhaul, according to CIMA. Charles Tilley, chief executive, is inviting Michael Meacher (above), minister for the environment, to a meeting with the Financial Services Authority and other investment specialists to consider the best way to report long-term risks. Following the publication of its report on environmental accounting, CIMA is calling for environmental reporting on a principles basis to be fully incorporated into the operating and financial review, which it recommends should be mandatory for listed companies.
