Abstract
The core reflection of this article is to exp lore the poten-
tial of using the Me diterranean as a category of analysis
for mi gration studies , what e pistemological a nd ontologi-
cal ef fects this may have and how this could be d one. To
better c apture this focus , I will spe ak about Med- Thinking.
This Mediterranean scale of analysis invites us to follow
methodologica l regio nalism. In pr actice, this means that
we need to encourage scholars to channel their findings
towards the development of a Mediterran ean appro ach.
To develop an integ rative and reflexive r egional approach,
I will fi rst point out the backgr ound prem ises of such a no r-
mative effort an d second, I will present the main analy tical
tools framing this Med- Thinking app roach by articulating
four main dimensions: epistemic solipsism, holism, homeo-
static a nd positive thinkin g on migration. In the end, I will
suggest s ome paths to pro mote the continued application
of the Med- Thinking approach for t he development of
Mediterranean m igration studies.
