Whereas a draft of this Order has been approved by resolution of each House of Parliament:
Now, therefore, Her Majesty, in pursuance of section 1(4) of the Ministerial and other Salaries Act 1975(a) is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order, and it is hereby ordered, as follows:—
Citation, commencement and revocation
1.—(1) This Order may be cited as the Ministerial and other Salaries Order 1983.
(2) This Order shall come into operation on 27th July 1983.
(3) The Ministerial and other Salaries Order 1982(b) is hereby revoked.
Increase of Ministerial salaries
2.—(1) For the amount specified in section 1(2) of the Ministerial and other Salaries Act 1975 ("the 1975 Act") as the aggregate annual amount of the salary payable to the Lord Chancellor under that subsection and the salary payable to him as Speaker of the House of Lords there shall be substituted—
(a) for the period beginning with 27th July 1983 and ending with 31st December 1983, £58,500,
(b) for 1984 and any subsequent period, £62,000.
(2) For the annual amount, or the maximum or minimum annual amount, of salary specified in Parts I, II, III and IV of Schedule 1 to the 1975 Act in relation to each of the offices specified in the first column of Schedule 1 to this Order there shall be substituted—
(a) 1975 c. 27.
(b) S.I. 1982/848.
(a) for the period beginning with 27th July 1983 and ending with 31st December 1983, the amount, or the maximum or minimum amount, of salary specified in relation to that office in the second column of that Schedule;
(b) for 1984, the amount, or the maximum or minimum amount, of salary specified in relation to that office in the third column of that Schedule;
(c) for 1985, the amount, or the maximum or minimum amount, of salary specified in relation to that office in the fourth column of that Schedule;
(d) for 1986, the amount, or the maximum or minimum amount, of salary specified in relation to that office in the fifth column of that Schedule; and
(e) for 1987 and any subsequent period, the amount, or the maximum or minimum amount, of salary specified in relation to that office in the sixth column of that Schedule.
