The Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 (Modification) Order 1989

Whereas a draft of this Order has been laid before Parliament on the recommendation of the Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs and has been approved by a resolution of each House of Parliament:

Now, therefore, Her Majesty, in pursuance of section 2(2) of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 (a) , is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order, and it is hereby ordered, as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 (Modification) Order 1989 and shall come into force on 18th September 1989.

2. Schedule 2 to the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 (which, as amended (b) , specifies the drugs which are subject to control under that Act) shall be amended by the insertion in paragraph 1 of Part III of that Schedule-

(a) after the word "Bromazepam" , of the word "Buprenorphine" , and(b) after the word "Oxazolam" , of the word "Pemoline" .

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order adds to Part III of Schedule 2 to the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 (which specifies the Class C drugs which are subject to control under the Act) Buprenorphine and Pemoline.
