Whereas a draft of this Order has been laid before Parliament on the recommendation of the Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs and has been approved by a resolution of each House of Parliament:

Now, therefore, Her Majesty, in pursuance of section 2(2) of the Misuse of Drugs Act 19711, is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order, and it is hereby ordered, as follows:

S-1 This Order may be cited as the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971...

1. This Order may be cited as the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 (Modification) Order 1996 and shall come into force on 1st September 1996.

S-2 Schedule 2 to the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 (which specifies...

2.—(1) Schedule 2 to the Misuse of Drugs Act 19712(which specifies the drugs which are subject to control under that Act) shall be amended as follows.

(2) In paragraph 1 of Part III of that Schedule

(a)

(a) the list of substances and products beginning with“Alprazolam”and ending with “Triazolam”shall be designated sub-paragraph (a), and accordingly “(a)”shall be inserted before “Alprazolam”; and

(b)

(b) there shall be added at the end the following sub-paragraphs —

(ii) by substitution to any extent at one or more of positions 1, 2, 4, 6, 7, 9, 11 or 16, but at no...
