Most unwanted -the Newcastle homes that have been for sale for up to SIX YEARS; Hard-to-sell homes are reportedly being snapped up in Britain's booming property market -but not these in Newcastle.

How heart warming the reports must seem to home sellers.

Just this week the news was that hard-to-sell homes were being snapped up by the hundred as Britain's booming property market maintains a year-long breakneck sales record.

COVID appears to have speeded up the market. In 2020 it only took an average of 27 days to sell a property after it being listed for sale, compared to 39 days in 2019.

However some homes are still proving difficult to sell. We have found a number of Newcastle homes, listed on the real estate website Zoopla, that have been for sale for over six years.

The first is a two bed flat in St James Gate, currently on the market for £165,000. It was first listed on Zoopla in June, 2015, more than six years ago.

It has an entrance hall, lounge kitchen, two bedrooms with master en-suite and bathroom.

The flat is on the 10th floor of this city centre development which you would have thought would have appealed to buyers looking to enjoy the benefits of city living. Maybe one day.

Next up is a flat in Cosgrove Court, The Ministry, Benton. Currently being marketed for £149,950, it was first listed on Zoopla in January, 2016, more than five years ago.

It is described as a stunning two bedroom top floor, modern apartment, ideally located for access to local shops and amenities as well as Longbenton Metro and road links to Newcastle city centre.

Our next property is a two bed flat in Haydon Close, Newcastle which is currently on the market for offers over £68,000.

It was first listed on Zoopla in July, 2016, and is situated in the Red House Farm area with good transport links and local amenities. It even comes with a garage, but that's not been enough to sell it so far.

Our next property is in Gosforth, usually a magnet for house hunters.
