Jon Moulton, managing partner of Alchemy Partners, and Simon Laffin ACMA (pictured), European retail adviser at CVC Capital Partners, will be discussing the future of private equity at CIMA's annual conference on November 8.

Moulton qualified as an accountant at Cooper Brothers (now PwC). After five years of working on insolvencies in Liverpool, he moved to New York to work at its nascent M&A group. In 1980 he joined Citicorp Venture Capital (CVC), a buy-out house. Five years later he was headhunted to launch Schroder Ventures and then he moved to Apax Partners. In 1997 he left to set up Alchemy Partners, which now manages a 2bn [pounds sterling] fund.
