The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 22 and 108(1) of the National Health Service (Scotland) Act 1978( a), and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following regulations: -

Citation and commencement

1.--(1) These regulations may be cited as the National Health Service (Vocational Training) (Scotland) Amendment Regulations 1986 and shall come into operation on 20th October 1986.

(2) In these regulations "the principal regulations" means the National Health Service (Vocational Training) (Scotland) Regulations 1980( b).

Amendment of the principal regulations

2. In regulation 2 of the principal regulations (interpretation - definition of "practitioner") for the words "section 22 of the Medical Act 1978" there shall be substituted the words "section 22 of the Medical Act 1983"( c).

3. In regulation 5(5)(a)(i) of the principal regulations (prescribed medical experience) for the words "immediately before 31st July 1984"( d) there shall be substituted the words "on the 1st January last preceding the start of the training in that post".

4. In regulation 8(1) of the principal regulations (exemptions) after subparagraph (g) there shall be inserted the following sub-paragraph:-

"(h) if he is a national of a Member State of the Communities and holds one or more primary European qualifications as defined in section 17 of the Medical Act 1983( e) by virtue of which he is entitled to be registered under section 3 of that Act as a fully registered medical practitioner.".

Revocation

5. The National Health Service (Vocational Training) (Scotland) Amendment Regulations 1983( a) and the National Health Service (Vocational Training) (Scotland) Amendment Regulations 1984( b) are hereby revoked.
