I am a new subscriber of New African. I was pleasantly surprised when I received my first issue (NA, March 2007) which focused on the celebration of Ghana's 50th independence anniversary.

I am an African-American woman who was enstooled as a queenmother in 2005 in the Central Region of Ghana. Unfortunately, I was unable to fulfill my dream of returning to Ghana to celebrate the golden jubilee with them. But, reading this issue of New African helped to take the place of not being there. The articles about Ghana were excellent.

This type of coverage would never have appeared in the Western media. We, as African-Americans, need to be informed about Africa from an African perspective. I discovered New African at my local library, and now look forward to receiving in my home, future informative...
