REPRESENTATION OF THE PEOPLEREDISTRIBUTION OF SEATS

The Parliamentary Constituencies (Wales) Order 1995

Made 11th April 1995

Coming into force in accordance with article 1(2)

At the Court at Windsor Castle, the 11th day of April 1995

Present,

The Queen’s Most Excellent Majesty in Council

Whereas in pursuance of section 3(1) of the Parliamentary Constituencies Act 19861the Boundary Commission for Wales have submitted to the Secretary of State a report dated 16th December 1994 showing the constituencies into which they recommend, in accordance with that Act, that Wales should be divided;

And whereas the Secretary of State has laid that report before Parliament together with the draft of this Order in Council to give effect, without modifications, to the recommendations contained in the report and each House of Parliament has by resolution approved the said draft;

Now, therefore, Her Majesty, in pursuance of section 4 of the Parliamentary Constituencies Act 1986, is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order, and it is hereby ordered, as follows:

S-1 This Order may be cited as the Parliamentary Constituencies...

1.—(1) This Order may be cited as the Parliamentary Constituencies (Wales) Order 1995.

(2) Subject to section 4(6) of the Parliamentary Constituencies Act 1986, this Order shall come into force on the fourteenth day after the day on which it is made.

S-2 For all the constituencies in Wales there shall be substituted...

2.—(1) For all the constituencies in Wales there shall be substituted the constituencies which—

(a)

(a) are named in the left-hand column of the Schedule to this Order;

(b)

(b) are designated in that column as either county constituencies or borough constituencies; and

(c)

(c) comprise the areas set out in the right-hand column of that Schedule.

(2) The areas set out in the right-hand column of the Schedule to this Order are local government areas as they existed on 16th December 1994 except that the wards in the Borough of Blaenau Gwent are the wards as they would exist if the Borough of Blaenau Gwent (Electoral Arrangements) Order 19922had come into full force.

S-3 Each electoral registration officer for the constituencies...

3. Each electoral registration officer for the constituencies referred to in article 2 above shall make such re-arrangement or adaptation of the register of parliamentary electors as may be necessary to give effect to this Order.

Clwyd South (county constituency)

(i) The following wards of the District of Glyndw*r, namely, Ceiriog Ganol, Chirk North, Chirk South, Corwen, Gwyddelwern, Llandegla, Llandrillo, Llangollen, Llangollen Rural, Llanrhaeadr-ym-Mochnant and Llansilin; and

(ii) the following wards of the Borough of Wrexham Maelor, namely, Bronington, Brymbo, Bryn Cefn, Cefn, Coedpoeth, Esclusham, Gwenfro, Johnstown, Marchwiel, Minera, New Broughton, Overton, Pant, Penycae, Plas Madoc, Ponciau and Ruabon.

Clwyd West (county constituency)

(i) The following wards of the Borough of Colwyn, namely, Betws yn Rhos, Colwyn, Dinarth, Eirias, Gele, Glyn, Kinmel Bay, Llanddulas, Llanfair Talhaiarn, Llangernyw, Llansannan, Llysfaen, Mochdre, Pentre Mawr, Rhiw, Rhos, Towyn and Uwchaled; and

(ii) the following wards of the District of Glyndw*r, namely, Efenechtyd, Llanarmon-yn-Ial, Llanbedr Dyffryn Clwyd, Llanfair Dyffryn Clwyd, Llanrhaeadr-yng-Nghinmeirch, Llanynys and Ruthin.

Delyn (county constituency)

The Borough of Delyn.

Vale of Clwyd (county constituency)

(i) The Trefnant ward of the Borough of Colwyn;

(ii) the following wards of the District of Glyndw*r, namely, Denbigh Central, Denbigh Lower, Denbigh Upper, Henllan and Llandyr-nog; and

(iii) the Borough of Rhuddlan.

Wrexham (county constituency)

The following wards of the Borough of Wrexham Maelor, namely, Acton, Borras Park, Caia Park, Garden Village, Gresford East and West, Grosvenor, Gwersyllt East and South, Gwersyllt North, Gwersyllt West, Holt, Little Acton, Llay, Maesydre, Marford and Hoseley, Offa East, Offa West, Queensway, Rhosnesni, Rossett, Stansty and Whitegate.

IN THE COUNTY OF DYFED

Carmarthen East and Dinefwr (county constituency)

(i) The following wards of the District of Carmarthen, namely, Abergwili, Cenarth, Cy-nwyl Elfed, Gorslas, Llanddarog, Llandy-faelog, Llanfihangel-ar-Arth, Llangeler, Llangunnor, Llangyndeyrn, Llanllwni, Llany-bydder, Pencarreg and St. Ishmael; and

(ii) the Borough of Dinefwr.

Carmarthen West and South Pembrokeshire (county constituency)

(i) The following wards of the District of Carmarthen, namely, Carmarthen Town North, Carmarthen Town South, Carmarthen Town West, Clynderwen, Laugharne Town-ship, Llanboidy, Llanddowror, Llansteffan, Newchurch, St. Clears, Trelech and Whitland; and

(ii) the District of South Pembrokeshire.

Ceredigion (county constituency)

The District of Ceredigion.

Llanelli (county constituency)

The Borough of Llanelli.

Preseli Pembrokeshire (county constituency)

The District of Preseli Pembrokeshire.

IN THE COUNTY OF GWENT

Blaenau Gwent (county constituency)

The following wards of the Borough of Blaenau Gwent, namely, Abertillery, Badminton, Beaufort, Blaina, Brynmawr, Cwm, Cwmtillery, Ebbw Vale North, Ebbw Vale South, Georgetown, Llanhilleth, Nantyglo, Rassau, Sirhowy, Six Bells and Tredegar Central and West.
