TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

The Payment of Wages Act 1960 (Appointed Day) Order 1963

8thJanuary 1963

The Minister of Labour by virtue of the powers conferred on him by section 7 of the Payment of Wages Act 1960(a) and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf hereby makes the following Order:—

1. The appointed day for the purpose of section 1 (3) (d) of the Payment of Wages Act 1960 shall be the 1st March 1963.

2. This Order may be cited as the Payment of Wages Act 1960 (Appointed Day) Order 1963.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This Note is not part of the Order, but is intended to indicate its general purport.)

This Order brings into operation on 1st March 1963 section 1 (3) (d) of the Payment of Wages Act 1960, which authorises the payment by cheque of the whole or part of an employed person's wages, in accordance with that person's written request, notwithstanding the provisions of sections 1 and 3 of the Truck Act 1831, sections 1 and 3 of the Hosiery Manufacture (Wages) Act 1874 and section 12 of the Stannaries Act 1887.
