Building
NEW DIVISIONAL POLICE HEADQUARTERS, CAMBORNE
This new Divisional Police Headquarters has been designed by the
county architect's department, in collaboration with the Chief
Constable for the Cornwall and Isles
of
Scilly Combined Police
Authority.
The well-wooded site was formerly
part
of
the grounds
of
Veor
and is opposite the offices
of
the Camborne/Redruth urban district
council. In the design and layout
of
the building, care has been
taken to preserve a large number
of
existing trees and shrubs.
Following the policy
of
the police authority and the county coun-
cil to use as much local material as possible, the building has a
roof
of
Delabole slates, and the external walls for the most
part
are faced
with Reformite blocks.
Divisional Police Headquarters, Camborne
The main accommodation provided in this station is for a super-
intendent, chief inspector, admin. inspector, C.LD. inspector,
C.LD. department (which includes a
dark
room), parade room,
report rooms, kitchen, canteen and a public inquiry office with
adjoining interview room. The new G.P.O. private automatic
exchange has been installed, thus doing away with the need for a
switchboard operator.
There is also a cell block attached for three male and one female
prisoners.
