Police dog helps collar suspected burglar after cops develop lead

Officers were called to the Alkrington area of the town last night Friday January 21 following reports that a man was trying to break into a building

When they arrived, police dog Kyp managed to detain a 21-year-old, who was then arrested.

The man is being questioned in connection to a spate of burglaries that have taken place in the area in the past two weeks, Greater Manchester Police GMP confirmed.

A spokesman for the force's Tactical Dog Unit tweeted: "Great work from this young dog plus a real lift for the community from this ongoing issue."

Another two suspected burglars were also arrested following an incident in the New Islington area of Manchester, in the early hours of this morning.
