PREFACE
Anthony J Connolly
The editors of the Federal Law Review are pleased to publish this, our first ever themed
issue, as our fourth and final issue of 2017. In order to better serve our longstanding
mission to be the pre-eminent academic journal on Australian federal law, as well as
federalism and federations more generally, we will be publishing, from this year on, an
extra fourth issue each year on a current topic within these areas. This year the topic
relates to Australian administrative law. Next year we intend to publish on a topic
within the sphere of comparative federalism.
In addition, the Federal Law Review is currently working to enhance its administrative,
publishing, marketing and dissemination capabilities with a view to increasing our
profile both within Australia and internationally. We are confident that our readers and
subscribers will benefit greatly from these changes.
Let me take advantage of this rare opportunity to write a preface to thank, first, our
readers and subscribers for their interest in and support of the journal over the years.
Secondly, let me thank the fine authors whose work we have published this year, as well
as all those other excellent authors who submitted their work to us. I want to especially
thank our referees this year who have given so generously of their time in the service of
the journal and of Australian legal scholarship, more generally. And finally, may I thank
my fellow academic editors, our team of volunteer student editors (some of the ANU’s
best law students) and our publications office teamIsabella, Mia, and Anniefor all
their great service this year.
I hope the journal has met the needs, interests, and expectations of you, our readers,
this year. We look forward to an even better 2018.
