Adoption – Order restricting disclosure of information in Adopted Children Register – Application to be made to High Court.

In adoption proceedings, where it is feared that the security of the placement may be put at risk if information relating to the child in the Adopted Children Register is open to inspection, the High Court may restrict disclosure. In an appropriate case, an order may be made under the court’s inherent jurisdiction directing that during the minority of the child, the Registrar General of England and Wales shall not disclose the details of the adoption entered in the Adopted Children Register to any person without leave of the court.
