One quiet little spot in the Lake District is home to picture-perfect views as well as a location for a major blockbuster.

Buttermere is a small village in the National Park paired with a lovely lake of the same name.

Up north in the county of Cumbria, this could be your next destination for a short staycation.

It is a truly beautiful place benefitting from stunning landscapes across the National Trust's lake.

In fact, it's such a scenic spot, it's been used this week for the filming of the new film in the iconic set, Mission Impossible 7.

Hollywood superstar, Tom Cruise, was reportedly spotting parachuting and zooming across the lake in this peaceful place in the Lake District.

On 9 September, he was apparently gliding across Buttermere Lake and is even said to have flown out his own private helicopter from Birmingham ready for filming.

Famously known for doing his own stunts, you'll be able to see him starring in front of this amazing backdrop next year.

It isn't known how long Tom will be filming in Buttermere for, but if it's good enough for a major movie, it's certainly good enough for a weekend break from the city.

Whilst your visit may not be quite as wild as the likes of Mission Impossible, there's certainly still a lot to get up to.

Buttermere Lake is absolutely ideal for a wonderful walk. And a 2-3 hour stroll around is set to be an enjoyable one for all the family.
