RE: Proposed Modifications to the Grid Code Under Condition 16 of the TSO
Licence – Rate of Change of Frequency (RoCoF)
Thank you for your letter of 27 February 2023, where you seek our approval for your
proposed modifications to sections of the Grid Code (CC5.3.3, CC8.8.3, CC8.8.4,
CC.S1.1.5.6, CC.S1.2.4.4, and CC.S2.1.9)

, relevant to high Rate of Change of Frequency
(RoCoF) events.
Under Condition 16 (3) of SONI’s Transmission System Operator Licence

, the licensee
can propose revisions to the Grid Code, that require the Utility Regulator’s (‘the Authority’)
approval. The Authority approves these modifications in the form presented.
Having reviewed the proposals for modification, and the supporting documentation, the
Authority is satisfied that SONI has recommended this modification for approval in
accordance with the relevant provisions set out in the Grid Code. We note that no
stakeholders have responded, but that any views given at the Grid Code Review Panel
(GCRP) have been adequately considered and addressed.
