None shall be Sheriff, Escheator, or Bailiff of Franchise, unless he hath sufficient in the County.(5 Edw. 3) C A P. IV.
'IT E M it is accorded and enacted, That no Sheriff, Under Escheator, Bailiff of Franchises, Wapentakes, Hundreds, nor Tithings, shall from benceforth be, except he have Lands sufficient in the same County, whereof to answer the King and his People, if any will complain.'
