Too Friendly and George Peabody both beat quality fields in the colours of the Gredley Family and have the trainer excited about the months ahead.

"I'm sure they surprised a few people, me included in how they won, but each of them had been doing very nicely at home and clearly we have to raise our sights now. Too Friendly in particular has improved massively for the Town Moor triumph and will be aimed at a Derby trial."

Scott admits he was disappointed with last season, although he was four winners off his best tally and the campaign was abbreviated owing to the pandemic.

"This season I have unquestionably the strongest and most exciting bunch of three-year-olds since I started out," he says.

The guv'nor of the Eve Racing Stables admits he has been short of a good one in the last two or three seasons, but there is every reason to think that is about to change. He says: "We're working very hard to produce a proper flagbearer for the team. The most exciting thing about progressive three-year-olds is the potential for improvement they have."

Scott believes he can set a career best this year, saying: "The key is to keep them all healthy so they can achieve their maximum potential. We have some nice older horses, including Au Clair De Lune, who can hopefully develop into a Stakes performer.

"I would be disappointed if we could not surpass 30 winners as the string looks so much stronger. The most important thing to me is to cultivate these exciting youngsters and if we do that well then the rest of the season will fall into place naturally."

Older horses Au Clair De Lune 4 br f Sea The Stars - Missunited She did not make her debut until June last year and was an impressive winner of a Doncaster novice stakes on her second outing. She did very well over the winter and I was delighted with her seasonal debut at Kempton last month when winning over 1m3f, which is her minimum trip. It is entirely possible she will get a good bit further in time, but the plan is to take in another handicap next. I would hope as the season goes on she will be capable of holding her own in stakes company. She has a beautiful pedigree and I believe her patient owners will have a lot of fun as she is a more mature individual now.

Jack The Truth 7 ch g Dandy Man - Friendly Heart He is a stable favourite as he was the first horse I ever bought when I started training and since then has notched up nine wins. He needs conditions to be in his favour, which is a strongly run race so that he can be produced late. He won at Chelmsford earlier this year but his effort at Wolverhampton was a complete waste of time as they went no pace. He likes turning all-weather tracks but he can go on fast ground conditions in the summer. He is now up to 87, just 1lb off his career-high, and I hope he can win off that mark. I believe he is capable of winning another two or three races this season.

Miss Mulligan 4 b f Gleneagles - Banimpire She was another who was too immature to make the racecourse as a juvenile but progressed nicely last year. She won a 1m handicap on heavy ground at Windsor off a mark of 74 and subsequently ran well off a 6lb higher mark when third at Doncaster in

October. She was really getting the hang of things when the season came to a close and...
