Raphael Varane has already had an impact on the Manchester United dressing room

Ronaldo and Varane were part of the Real Madrid squad which won four Champions Leagues in five seasons between 2014-2018, and Varane lifted the World Cup with France two years after Ronaldo skippered Portugal to European Championship glory in 2016.

Varane made his home debut for United in the 4-1 victory over Newcastle and they kept their only clean sheet of the season at Wolves on the Frenchman's debut.

Solskjaer praised Varane's impact prior to kick-off and at half-time at Molineux last month and reiterated the 28-year-old has brought a much-needed winning mentality to United.

"The more quality you add to the group [then] the more healthy competition and leaders who they look up to," Solskjaer said. "I think seeing Raphael and Cristiano coming in, it’s raised everyone’s eyebrows because they are winners, they have won everything there is to win and they put demands on themselves which the young boys, the rest of the team, they look at them and think that is how you stay at the top.
