1981 CHAPTER 5

An Act to increase the limit imposed by section 109(2) of the Employment Protection (Consolidation) Act 1978 on the aggregate amount which may be borrowed by the Secretary of State for the purposes of the Redundancy Fund.

Be it enacted by the Queen's most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—

1 Increase in borrowing limits.

1. In section 109(2) of the Employment Protection (Consolidation) Act 1978(aggregate amount outstanding by way of principal in respect of sums advanced to Secretary of State from National Loans Fund for purposes of Redundancy Fund not to exceed 16 million or such larger sum not exceeding 40 million as the Secretary of State may by order determine) for the words ‘16 million’ and ‘40 million’ there shall be substituted respectively the words ‘200 million’ and ‘300 million’.

2 Short title and extent.

(1) This Act may be cited as the Redundancy Fund Act 1981 .

(2) This Act does not extend to Northern Ireland.
