After an internal investigation Sage has become aware that the submission contains indicators of
third-party involvement and attempts to manipulate the peer-review process.
Due to concerns around author contributions to this article, as well as concerns around the integrity
of the research process, Sage and the Maastricht Journal of European and Comparative Law have
decided to retract this article.
The authors did not agree with the retraction.
