Sam Fender has revealed to Lorraine Kelly why he once turned down Ariana Grande, after being invited to play the world famous singer's boyfriend in one of her music videos.

As voting launches for this year's Brit Awards, Sam Fender up for three Brit Awards including Album of the Year, the North Shields singer appeared on the ITV show to reflect on what an amazing year he's had, talking about everything from going fishing with Robson Green to getting Time and Line of Duty star Stephen Graham to appear in the video for his song Spit of You.

And that's on top of Sam's second album Seventeen Going Under outselling the rest of the top 10 combined as it shot straight to number 1 in the autumn and him packing out countless venues, on his tour at the end of the year.

Sam spoke to Lorraine about the close friendship he has forged with Elton John, even performing alongside the music legend at an Oscars party an it was then that she put him on the spot about 'knocking back' Thank U Next singer Ariana.

Lorraine asked Sam: "Are you going to work with Ariana Grande or has that ship sailed do you think Did it not just quite work out"

Sam replied: "It's a strange story. We got offered to play the boy...
