(1) This Act makes provision in relation to shared education.to deliver educational benefits to children and young persons;to promote the efficient and effective use of resources;to promote equality of opportunity;to promote good relations; andto promote respect for identity, diversity and community cohesion.this Act; andsection 2(3) of, and paragraph 8(2) of Schedule 1 to, the Education Act (Northern Ireland) 2014 (duty of Education Authority to encourage, facilitate and promote shared education) .those of different religious belief, including reasonable numbers of both Protestant and Roman Catholic children or young persons; andthose who are experiencing socio-economic deprivation and those who are not,education at a grant-aided school, orservices of any kind (including youth services) which provide educational benefit to children or young persons.
  • It is the duty of the Department of Education (so far as its powers extend) to encourage, facilitate and promote shared education.
  • (1) The bodies listed in subsection (2) may encourage and facilitate shared education.the Council for Catholic Maintained Schools;the Youth Council for Northern Ireland;the Northern Ireland Council for the Curriculum, Examinations and Assessment; andany sectoral body.which is recognised by the Department of Education as representing the interests of grant-aided schools of a particular description; andto which grants are paid under section 4 of the Education Act (Northern Ireland) 2014.(1) For the purposes of its functions under section 3, the Department of Education may form, or participate in the formation of, a company under the Companies Act 2006.(2) For the purposes of its functions under section 2(3) of the Education Act (Northern Ireland) 2014, the Education Authority may form, or participate in the formation of, a company under the Companies Act 2006.developing, adopting, implementing or revising policies, strategies and plans; anddesigning and delivering public services.the Department of Education;the Education Authority;the Council for Catholic Maintained Schools;the Northern Ireland Council for the Curriculum, Examinations and Assessment; andthe Youth Council for Northern Ireland.not later than two years after the date on which this Act receives Royal Assent; andat intervals of not more than two years thereafter,
