The Social Security (Contributions) Amendment Regulations 1987

Laid before Parliament 6th February 1987
Coming into force 6th April 1987
The Secretary of State for Social Services, in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by section 1 of the Social Security Pensions Act 19751, and section 168(1) of, and Schedule 20 to, the Social Security Act 19752and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following regulations:
Citation and commencement
1. These regulations, which may be cited as the Social Security (Contributions) Amendment Regulations 1987, amend the Social Security (Contributions) Regulations 19793and shall come into force on 6th April 1987.
Amendment of regulation 7 of the Social Security (Contributions) Regulations 1979
2. In regulation 7 of the Social Security (Contributions) Regulations 1979 (lower and upper earnings limits for Class 1 contributions)—
(a) for the words “6th April 1986” there shall be substituted the words “6th April 1987”; and
(b) for “£38” and “£285” there shall be substituted respectively “£39” and “£295”.

These Regulations further amend the Social Security (Contributions) Regulations 1979 by increasing the weekly lower and upper earnings limits for Class 1 contributions for the tax year beginning 6th April 1987.
