The Social Security (Women's Class 2 Contributions) Order 1976

The Secretary of State for Social Services in exercise of powers conferred upon him by section 7(3) of the Social Security Act 1975(a) and all other powers enabling him in that behalf hereby makes the following order:—

Citation, commencement and interpretation

1.—(1) This order may be cited as the Social Security (Women's Class 2 Contributions) Order 1976 and shall come into operation on 6th April 1977.

(2) The rules for the construction of Acts of Parliament contained in the Interpretation Act 1889(b) shall apply for the purposes of the interpretation of this order as they apply for the purposes of the interpretation of an Act of Parliament.

Lower rate of Class 2 contributions for women

2. In the tax year beginning 6th April 1977 the weekly rate of Class 2 contributions under the Social Security Act 1975 shall for women be £2·55 (being a rate lower than that for other Class 2 contributors).
